Hope floats in 2021

By BṺM TENORIO JR., The Philippine STAR Published Jan 07, 2021 4:00 pm

Hope is a gift not found under the tree but discovered inside you - in your soul, in your spirit.

How else can we better welcome the New Year than with hope in our hearts? Hope makes us all very human because it makes us dream a dream. And dream some more.

Hope makes us believe in better and safer days to come. It makes us believe in the impossible. It makes us subscribe to new beginnings. Hope makes our faith more intense. It makes us walk the path of God.

Hope and fear are twins. But hope should always win.

Hope fuels us to dream. Fear kills our dreams. But hope stomps on fear. Fear dissipates in the presence of hope.

Hope makes us hunt for everyday blessings. Fear haunts us not to see the blessings. Still, let hope win.

Hope makes us believe that miracles abound, big and small. Fear makes us doubt their existence. Cling to hope, still.

Hope delivers us from angst and agitation. It humbles us as well as fortifies us. It is the pinwheel that spins solutions to the problems. And when push comes to shove, hope is the trigger that says: “It may be true that not all problems have solutions but all problems are manageable.” Hope makes us manage the unmanageable, the same way it gives meaning to the mundane.

Hope is gazing at the horizon that is enveloped in darkness. The starless night illumines with hope. The star that is not present in the sky is the star that can be found in the heart — that is hope. Hope is that fitful flicker that when sustained becomes a bolt of shimmering light.

Hope is the voice that gives speech to pent-up emotions, emotions that saddle the heart to forgive. Hope liberates the soul that is hardened by betrayal.

Hope is finding kindness in unkind situations. It is the yearning to see beauty in pain. It is the desire to get over pain and treating it like a beautiful experience.

Hope makes us prosper in love. It is the butterfly in the stomach that foretells that bright and beautiful things are about to unfold. It is the young ones’ anchor to believe in the glory of love, in the promises of forever. And for the “young once,” hope is the light that shines as they continue to love — challenges and all notwithstanding.

Hope is the life vest of those who bob up and down on the ocean of despair. The brokenhearted hold on to hope because hope is faith and analgesic combined — both relieve the pain.

Hope is the humility of the heart to accept defeat. Because not all love pursuits are won, hope is the grip of the lonely hunter that is the heart. Hope is the budding smile that forces that sweet, gentle parting of the lips amidst despair. It promises the lonely heart the dawning of a new day — perhaps tomorrow, in the weeks or months to come. Hope is the assurance of the inevitability of moving on and moving forward. Until then, laughter ensues. And the sound of laughter — crisp, boisterous, celebratory — is also the sound of hope.

Hope is the joy we find when we are alone. It’s not lonely to be alone. Hope says that the self, many times, is good company. Hope is the music that prompts you to dance alone — when no one is watching, when you’re in a crowd. It is the embrace that keeps you warm on a full moon and empty arms.

Hope is already the answered prayer of the faithful. A slim dose of hope is a whisper from God that better days are about to come, beautiful things are about to happen. Hope gives birth to a miracle.

Hope leads you home when you are lost. It is the compass that directs you clearly to your moral destination. It moors your mind to safety, to solemnity.

Hope is the energy that converts confusion to order. It comes with no set rules but hope straightens the crookedness of our thoughts. It is the peace to the wicked mind. It is the salvation in commotion, the security blanket in an emotional war zone.

Hope is the mantle and the core of a life that is lived not as easy as a Sunday morning. Hope still. For when we hope, we invite positivity. Hope is the creed that says: Take it easy. One step at a time.

Hope is a gift not found under the tree but discovered inside you — in your soul, in your spirit. It is a gift that keeps on giving because when you cultivate hope, it yields happiness, good fortune, bliss, delight, success. Maybe not instantaneously but hope is a springboard for all things delightful. The joy and blessing will come in trickles until it becomes a downpour.

Hope is the sunset that the heart appreciates. It is aware that every ending is also its beginning. Hope makes us believe in the promise of a new day. Hope is a hymn to a soul that’s grown dim.

Hope is the cap to our restlessness. Hope is the tenderness of security, the happiness of peace. It is the Energizer Bunny to the spirit that has known desolation and despair. It is the balm to the soul that’s broken. Hope mends. Hope heals. Hope wins.

Hope is love in another form. For when we hope for a better tomorrow, we love to see the advancement of our dreams.

Let’s hope some more. Let’s love some more. Hope and love — that’s all.
