The University of the Philippines Diliman announced that it will again temporarily close the Academic oval and other campus spaces to the public beginning Jan. 10 due to the rising COVID-19 cases.

"Dahil sa biglaan at mabilis na pagtaas ng mga kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa, muling isasara ang Academic Oval at iba pang mga pampublikong espasyo sa UP Diliman simula Enero 10," the university posted on Jan. 9.

In November 2021, the university reopened the campus' public spaces to all people, regardless of vaccination status.

The campus also recently shared that its offices and units will operate on a work-from-home arrangement from Jan. 10 to 18.

Meanwhile, UP Health Service will be temporarily closed until Jan. 18 "to give affected health staff the required time to recover and recuperate." Its telemedicine consultations will continue.

On Jan. 9, the Philippines logged a record-high 28,707 new COVID-19 cases.
