'Dare to be different': Angie Mead King announces Victoria Court rebranding

By SAAB LARIOSA Published Jun 27, 2022 8:46 pm

Angie Mead King has announced that the popular motel chain Victoria Court is reinventing itself anew as Hotel AVA.

In an Instagram post, King chronicled how her father's health back in 2013 pushed her to live her truth as a transgender woman.

"It was at that time I felt how life was so fragile. I didn't want to wait till I was old to come out and live my truth," Angie shared. "This was when I ended up telling Joey that I wanted to be more of myself in public. I had to dare to be different to become who I am."

She then refered Victoria Court's rebranding, dubbing it as an evolution in its own right.

"Today, I dare myself to take on a new challenge with my Hotel. We're now saying goodbye to Victoria Court to welcome a new brand @hotelavaph. We #DareToBeDifferentHere," the personality wrote.

"Not only are we changing brands, we are evolving a lot of the things of the business that I'm excited to share in the next few days."

Hotel AVA's Instagram page has also announced that Victoria Court's branches in Malate, Gil Puyat, and Cuneta will first have their rebranding. It has also dubbed itself as a safe space for all guests.

In one of its first posts, the hotel shared a raised fist with rainbow colors, an apparent reference to its LGBTQ+ roots: "Dare to break free! Show your pride with raised fists in the air. It’s time to love harder."

Meanwhile, under Angie's leadership, Hotel AVA workers will also be given higher compensation and benefits such as healthcare, free meals and coffee, longer maternity leaves, and 13th and 14th-month bonuses.

"I hope with these radical changes we are implementing we can serve as an inspiration to other companies to try to rethink how they conduct business so that we truly make a difference on how we treat our environment and our people," Mead shared.

Angie's grandfather, Angelo King, introduced Victoria Court to the public back in the early 1970s. It's since become one of the most well-known motel chains in the country.
