Family welcomes first baby girl in over 130 years
A family from Michigan is on cloud nine after welcoming a baby girl, the first in the father side's kin since over 130 years ago.
Good Morning America reported that Audrey was born to Carolyn and Andrew Clark on March 17 which is also St. Patrick's Day, the religious and cultural holiday of the Irish missionary.
Andrew's family records showed Audrey is the first daughter in the Clark family since 1885.
"It was a huge surprise for all of us," Andrew said.
Carolyn said she didn't believe her husband's story at first when they started dating about 10 years ago.
"I asked his parents to confirm that information and they're like, 'Oh yeah, no, we haven't had a girl in our direct line,'" she said, adding that though Andrew's uncles and cousins have had girls, his lineage doesn't have one.
According to Inside Edition, Andrew is one of three boys, his father one of three, his grandfather one of four, great grandfather one of two, and his great-great-grandfather one of four.
Andrew and Carolyn thought they were going to have another boy, especially since they already have a four-year-old son named Cameron.
Audrey's birth was made even more special as the Clarks had a miscarriage in 2021.
"When we found out we were pregnant, we honestly didn't care if we were having a boy or girl at that point," Carolyn told Good Morning America. "We just were thankful to be pregnant and just praying for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby."
"We're so happy that she's finally here," Carolyn added, "and once again, that she's healthy and that everything went well with the delivery."
