Angel Locsin says DepEd must be 'held accountable' for body-shaming
Angel Locsin demanded an apology from a teacher for body-shaming her on a class module, and scored the Department of Education after finding its statement on the issue wanting.
"I don’t mind the insults. Cheap comments do not define who I am," the actress wrote on social media on Sunday. Locsin said she was going to brush off the issue, but couldn't help but react when she read DepEd's official statement.
"What bothers me most is apart from teaching incorrect grammar to the students, DepEd seems unaffected that the said teacher is teaching bad conduct and sowing discrimination among the children. Anong mangyayare sa future kung ang mga kabataan ay tinuturuan ng pambabastos at pangungutya sa kapwa?" she added. (What will happen to the youth’s future if they are taught to be rude and judgmental to others?)
Locsin stressed that the above mentioned issues are "more relevant," and that DepEd and the teacher involved "should be held accountable" and correct their mistakes. "Sa inyo naka salalay ang pag asa ng ating milyon milyong kabataan."
This was after DepEd released their apology and official statement regarding an issue where Locsin was called an "obese person" on a music, arts, physical education, and health (MAPEH) module from DepEd-Occidental Mindoro. In the module, it wrote:
"Angel Locsin is an obese person. She, together with Coco Martin eats fatty and sweet food in Mang Inasal fast food restaurant most of the time. In her house, she always watching television (sic) and does not have any physical activities."

DepEd-Occidental Mindoro responded to the viral news, saying that the material was not part of their self-learning module, but a "teacher-made assessment for a Grade 10 MAPEH class."
The school division expressed their "sincerest apology" and noted that they do not "tolerate nor condone any act of body shaming, ad hominem, or any similar act of bullying both in the physical and virtual environments."
Furthermore, DepEd said they communicated with the teacher involved and appreciate the feedback to help improve and "provide quality education to all learners."
