A New Yorker has pleaded guilty for murdering his mother, throwing her remains in the trash, and proceeding to Google disturbing ways to dispose of her body in order to receive his multimillion-dollar inheritance.

Jared Eng, aged 25, faced charges of one count of Murder in the Second Degree for brutally killing his mother, Paula Chin in their Tribeca home in 2019. According to case reports by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Eng reportedly beat Chin and slashed her throat before leaving her body in a trash bin.

After the murder, Jared proceeded to text his friends: "It's done," "I'm free," and he "got rid of [his] problem." He also sought help from two of his girlfriends to dispose of the body.

Together, the trio scrubbed the apartment clean and transported Paula's body to a home she owned in New Jersey.

Days after her disappearance, Paula was later found stuffed in a garbage container near her home with stab wounds and signs of blunt impact to the head. According to prosecutors, Jared told his friends: "it took [her] a while to die."

Numerous bloody rubber gloves were found at the crime scene, including blood stains and duct tape to wrap up the body.

The ultimate motive that the court found was for Jared to expedite his inheritance amounting to over $11M (P637M).

Per the New York Post, Eng proceeded to change the passwords on his mother's bank accounts and looked up inheritance lawyers to speed up his fortune. process He even reportedly even looked up "DIY bone meal" for ways to get rid of Paula's remains.

Eng faces up to 18 years to life in prison. His sentence will be held on Oct. 18. His friends who helped dispose of the body will also face criminal charges in the days to come.

"This was a brutal and shocking murder of the defendant’s own mother, and while nothing can undo this tragedy, today’s guilty plea represents an important step towards justice. My thoughts are with those who continue to mourn Ms. Chin’s loss,” said New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg during the hearing.
