Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and President Rodrigo Duterte were the most preferred candidates of Filipinos for the country's next president and vice president according to the most recent Pulse Asia national survey.

The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews from June 16 to 20 with over 2,400 representatives from all over the country. It found that 28% of adult Filipinos see the Davao Mayor as President, while 26% saw Rodrigo Duterte vice president.

For the first-choice presidential preferences, Sara Duterte leads the pack with Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno (14%) following close behind. Part of the Top 5 preferences are Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos (13%), Sen. Grace Poe (10%), and Sen. Manny Pacquiao (8%).

Sara has yet to have a final say if she will run in the coming national elections, as she is given until July 30 by her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) to make a decision. She, however, has recently answered "yes" when asked about the possibility of her presidential candidacy.

Pulse Asia survey results from November to December 2020 also saw the Davao Mayor leading as a possible President frontrunner.

Meanwhile, President Duterte claimed the top spot for the first choice as Vice President ahead of Isko Moreno (14%), Vicente "Tito" Sotto III (10%), Bongbong Marcos (10%), and Manny Pacquiao (9%).

Duterte has been floating a 2022 VP run for some time now, sharing that he would like his predecessor and running mate to be an ally.

“(On) the proposition that I run for vice president, I'm somehow sold (on) the idea. I am seriously thinking of running for vice president but let me dwell into the reality of things,” he shared during a meeting with PDP-Laban last Wednesday, July 7.

"If I run for vice president and the elected president is not a friend, the situation would arise where I would remain an inutile thing there. This is my dilemma."

The Duterte-Duterte tandem also won over the most Pulse Asia votes in the Mindanao province.

Meanwhile, the survey also covered the Senatorial candidates, with Sen. Manny Pacquiao leading the pack.
