‘Masarap kumain eh.’ Macoy Dubs shows how to disarm pandemic weight shamers

By SAAB LARIOSA Published Aug 24, 2021 10:08 pm

Content creator Mark Averilla, also known as Macoy Dubs, just showed the Internet how to savagely (but respectfully) shut down body shamers through chat.

In a recent Instagram post, the content creator shared a screenshot of someone rudely pointing out that he had gained weight and even calling him an “inahing baboy” (pig).

Averilla replied back with: “Wow close tayo? I know. Masarap kumain eh. Pero hindi tayo close at di mo ko kilala in person para sabihang baboy. Okay?"

The anonymous person promptly backtracked and apologized to Averilla with a "sorry po."

“Sa mga tulad ng nag PM sa akin ng ganito, I’m disarming you,” Averilla had captioned. “I WANT YOU to KNOW that we are all trying to be better, at our own PACE.”

“That are flaws must be embraced as long as we know WE STILL FEEL GOOD. Tumaba ako. Opo. Gusto ko malaman mo to use better words, advice me better CLOSE man tayo or HINDI.” He added that people ought to choose their words better on social media.

Averilla rose to fame with his impersonations, cultural commentary, and feel-good Aunt Julie videos on TikTok.
