Are you part of the group that discovered the joys of biking amid the pandemic?

If so, you know that there's one place in the Metro that comes to mind when talking about bike-friendly initiatives and communities: Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

With its wide bike lanes and pedestrian-friendly walkways, Taguig's central business district is continuously rolling into a sustainable future amid the boost of the cycling community in the pandemic.

Enter the BikeYard, a newly-introduced open space for cyclists to meet up, discuss their routes, or simply lock in their bikes in the BGC area.

Inspired by the vibrancy of the growing cycling culture, the park comes with essential biking amenities such as bike lock-in racks, repair equipment, pump stations, and a side micro park for bikers to leave their equipment while strolling.

Other features include elevated bike racks and tables that can double as bike parking.

The area opened to the public starting on Dec. 1 and has been visited by a number of bikers and cycling groups in the area.

The number of bikers grew at the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns when bicycles were one of the few allowed modes of transportation, but Filipinos have been pedaling on since then.

Aside from lessening one's carbon footprint, cycling also has an abundance of physical benefits such as improving one's immune system, improving muscle strength, and building endurance.

The BikeYard is located along 28th Avenue, Lane O, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
