VIRAL: ‘Flying hotel’ designed to stay mid-air for years will have a pool, cinema, and mall inside

A concept for a luxury “flying hotel” made the rounds online as it’s designed to be able to stay in the air for several years.

Produced by science communicator Hashem Al-Ghaili with the original concept by Tony Holmsten in mind, the Sky Cruise would be able to have 5,000 passengers on board without the need for pilots. “All this technology and you still want pilots? I believe it will be fully autonomous,” Al-Ghaili said in an interview

Aside from the panoramic hall where guests can enjoy the view of the sky, the Sky Hotel will also feature a gym, swimming pool, shopping center, playground, cinemas, restaurants, bars, and more.

The aircraft will reportedly be fueled by nuclear fusion, making it environment-friendly. It will also have a system that foresees turbulence via artificial intelligence that prevents vibrations and uneven air movement.

While the luxury plane is seen to be “the future of transport,” there are people who aren’t too keen about the whole idea.

“Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen,” an Internet user said. “Looks cool anyways.”

“If physics and aerodynamics didn’t exist, then this vessel might actually be able to take off,” another one wrote.

A netizen pointed out that there could be concerns about takeoff and landing. “Just imagine the runway for such a monster-sized takeoff/landing. With all this desire to make a luxury air hotel, wouldn’t it be more practical to make a nuclear airship than a monster plane?”

“I bet I’ll still end up next to someone else’s screaming three-year-old for the entire trip,” a YouTube user joked.
