Are you eagerly anticipating the opening of IKEA Philippines like the rest of us?

IKEA’s iconic logo can now be seen at its flagship store in the country. Even the management of SM Mall of Asia expressed their excitement over this new development as they gave us a glimpse of it via their official Twitter page.

IKEA PH is expected to be its largest branch in the world, occupying about 65,000 square meters—equivalent to 150 basketball courts—at the SM Mall of Asia Complex.

Before its slated opening in the 3rd or 4th  quarter of 2021, the Swedish home furnishing retailer will start with its online operations as it looks to boost its digital presence amid the current pandemic.

“The COVID crisis changed how many of us value life at home,” Christian Rojkjaer, IKEA Southeast Asia and Mexico managing director, said in a press release. “At a time of urgent need, people turned to IKEA to set up home offices, study corners, outdoor living areas and functional kitchens. Many realized that home really counts and it’s worth investing to make our living spaces comfortable, functional and beautiful.”

Just recently, they announced their special tie-up with local social enterprise Rags2Riches (R2R). As their official sewing partner, a number of artisans can customize IKEA textile finds for customers according to their needs and liking. This includes, among others, curtains, pillowcases, bedsheets, and ottomans.
