Stay sane during this ECQ with these fun and productive virtual activities

By Camille Santiago Published Aug 12, 2021 6:46 pm

It's ECQ in some areas of the Philippines once again, and it's causing fatigue more than ever. Although there isn’t anywhere else to go at the moment because of the Delta variant, there are still plenty of things do at home.

Life right now is almost totally online, so it's just fitting that we get the help we need to stay sane from the web through virtual workouts, classes, and so on.

Instead of binging your shows, why not do something else—something productive but fun. Here, we list down more activities you can do at home.

Sign up for free workouts

There's no shortage of fitness apps and virtual workout options, but sometimes, we suddenly realize that the program we signed up for (and paid for!)  is not really for us.

But now, adidas and REBEL, a health and fitness app, makes it easier for us by giving us access to different programs for free with the adidas x REBEL: Watch Us Move program. Users can explore their taste in fitness as it features High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Low Impact Training (LIT), functional fitness, dance, and yoga, which are led by female coaches: Cam Lagmay, Sam Corrales, Ytle Cruzado, and Kitkat Cuenca.

This 8-part workout is free for all on the REBEL App via the 30-day free trial of REBEL, which can be downloaded via the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

Learn a new recipe

Either you're a novice who wants to impress your family with a new recipe or an advanced cook who wants to make a profit out of your skills, either way, signing up for cooking classes is a smart move that will improve your culinary knowledge and skills like a pro.

If you're looking for virtual cooking classes, check The Bailiwick Academy (TBA). While there may be thousands of cooking videos on YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook, TBA gives much more detailed recipes, videos, techniques and tips than free tutorials.

TBA is "a portal for expanding one’s bailiwick [ˈbāləˌwik] or sphere of expertise or interest" in baking, cake decorating, and culinary, with access to classes from TBA's pool of experts like Chef Joey Prats, Chef RV Manabat, and Chef James Magos AKA Jimbo de Panadero, and more.

What's more, first time users get a free P500 voucher when they sign up on their website

Ever wished you can be like your idol? You know, be as good in cooking as Gordon Ramsay, or write articulately like Malcom Gladwell, produce chart-topping songs like Alicia Keys, or create beautiful makeup looks like Bobbi Brown. At Masterclass, you can. This streaming platform gives you access to 100+ classes across 11 different categories such as Writing, Music, Design & Style, Food, Business, Wellness, Arts & Entertainment, and more.

It comes with a price tag though, starting at $15 per month, but it's worth it! New classes are added every month, and there are about 20 lessons or videos per class. And, like your favorite streaming apps, Masterclass video lessons are available anytime, anywhere, which can also be downloaded onto your smart devices.

If you have't registered to vote yet, you still have about a month to do so (but we suggest you do it now). Comelec offices in ECQ and MECQ areas are closed, but use this time to prepare all the requirements for application.

Vote Pilipinas can provide you with all pertinent information that you need to register—all you have to do is take the Voter Registration Service Test on their website

Once the lockdown has eased down, file your application from Mondays to Saturdays at 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the nearest Comelec Office.

And while you're at it, order some take out!

It's good to stay productive, but it's also okay to just take a step back and enjoy your free time doing everyone's favorite pastime: eating.

Now that we can't go out as much, grab your phone and order in take out. Good news is, GrabKitchen just opened a new cloud kitchen in Pasig, where you can order different dishes and drinks from different merchants—such as Merry Moo, Omakase, CoCo, Happilee, 24 Chicken, Merienda by Pan de Manila, Pan de Manila, King Chef, Conti’s, La Tita, and many more—in one transaction.
