Father’s Day is only three days away—do you have a plan yet?

For all that he is and all that he’s done, dad deserves only the best. Picking the perfect gift to delight him and the perfect restaurant to celebrate this special day can be quite a challenge, even more so during this time.

Amidst the pandemic, it’s advisable to keep our mobility limited to avoid high-risk exposure to COVID-19. Good thing there are one-stop destinations that can help us pull off our last-minute ideas for the Sunday affair.

SM Malls, for one, are places to be when it comes to affordable finds. All their tenants strictly follow IATF standards of cleanliness and safe distancing—and it’s the same for their restaurants with both large airy spaces and alfresco areas for dining.

Whether dad is into Filipino food, American cuisine, or both, there’s something in the gallery below that could satisfy his palate. Scroll through it for some options he might like.

Boodle fights are one of the best ways to strengthen family ties. It can be enjoyed at Don Juan, which is offering a myriad of ihaw-ihaw delights from seafood, to pork, and beyond.

Mesa has similar offerings he can indulge in—just take a look at this mouthwatering inihaw platter that’s perfect for small families. Each order comes with barbecue, squid, and shrimp, among others. Take note, however, that the restaurant has replaced the mussels (seen in the photo below) with scallops.

It looks like the sky’s the limit when it comes to grilled options in SM Malls. Penong’s also has a delectable Fiesta Plate and it’s well-loved for its chicken barbecue—the star of the menu that “has secured a spot in the hearts of the Davaoeños,” as stated in its official website.

We want dad to eat healthy, but it would be nice to treat him to his sinful food favorites from time to time, right? The Father’s Day weekend could be a great opportunity to do so with Kuya J Restaurant’s best-selling crispy pata. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, this melt-in-your-mouth goodness is served with atsara and special sauce.

If he wants some no-frills crispy pata, this boneless crispy pata by Mesa could be your best bet. Taking it to a whole new level is the thick sauce, which gives it an incredibly spicy kick.

Buku-Buku Kafe is also a great option for Filipino food-loving dads. If he’s very much into sisig, the restaurant’s three-way sisig could be perfect for him. Good for 2-3 pax, each sizzling plate includes spicy pork sisig, tofu sisig, and fish sisig with fried egg at the center.

Aristocrat has long been a go-to restaurant for many Filipino families. Among its bestsellers is the pork spareribs served with java rice and java sauce.

What better way to cap off Father’s Day than with a movie date? Before leaving the mall, get some Domino’s Pizza that you can enjoy as you continue making fun memories throughout the day.

If he wants something different, he might want to try Pizza Hut's new Philly Cheesesteak Pan Pizza, which showcases the goodness of beef and cheese in one mouthwatering snack.

Should you opt to celebrate Father’s Day at the comfort of your own home, you can buy food and gifts via SM Malls Online, which is available at SM Megamall, SM City North EDSA, and SM Mall of Asia. You can get your orders the next day or schedule them for pick-up to save time and effort as you limit face-to-face contact.
