As Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid is swimming into theaters soon, many are filled with excitement about taking a look at Ariel's gorgeous world under the sea. But why settle looking at it through the big screen when you can explore it yourself in these incredible diving spots in the Philippines?

The country was recently recognized as Asia’s Leading Dive and Beach Destination at the 2022 World Travel Awards, marking its sixth time being named Asia's Leading Beach Destination and its fourth time being named Asia’s Leading Dive Destination.

Indeed, the "Pearl of the Orient" has some of the most beautiful underwater locations that'll take your breath away. Here are some diving resorts and centers that could be part of your next aquatic adventure out of town.

Neptune Dive Center (Coron, Palawan)

Nestled in Coron, Palawan, Neptune Dive Center boasts itself as the perfect diving place if you want to see a glimpse of history by exploring sunken shipwrecks from World War II.

Coron has been known as the "wreck diving capital of the Philippines" because of the sheer volume and variety of wrecks sunk by the US Navy in 1944, just hiding below its waters. On top of this, the Neptune Dive Center can also show you many beautiful reef sites teeming with fish, resident turtles, caverns, and a geo-thermal lake dive that's like nothing you've ever seen before.

Eagle Point Beach and Dive Resort (Anilao, Batangas)

Situated at the world-renowned diving destination Anilao, Batangas, this resort is one of the biggest scuba diving places in the province. With its exclusive access to private and secluded beaches and a plethora of water activities, Eagle Point Beach and Dive Resort can help you reach your goal of getting a electrifying experience in the sea.

The resort provides scuba divers with easy access to the best diving spots in Anilao, and you can also see an abundance of marine life along the way such as Whitetip Reef sharks, sea cucumbers, colorful Linckia sea stars, and clownfish.

But if you'd rather sit back and soak in some sunshine, you can enjoy the resort's idyllic atmosphere with its cozy hotel rooms with scenic seaside views.

Devocean Divers (Cebu)

Located on the small island of Malapascua in Cebu, Devocean Divers truly lives up to its name with its commitment to giving you an unforgettable experience underwater.

According to its official website, one of the highlights of its diving offer is a chance to have a close encounter with the elusive and graceful thresher sharks or fox sharks, which are known to be frequent visitors to the island of Malapascua. Don't be scared, though, as these sharks are not aggressive and there have been no reports recorded about attacks on humans (just maybe try not to provoke it in any way).

If you have no experience in diving but are enthusiastic to learn, you'd be pleased to know that Devocean Divers can help you become part of the underwater society through their comprehensive diving courses managed by experienced instructors.

Pura Vida Beach and Dive Resort (Negros Oriental)

This spacious beach resort is settled in the town of Dauin in Negros Oriental, which is a fan-favorite destination among snorkel enthusiasts and scuba diving lovers.

With the goal of keeping the place as natural as possible, Pura Vida Beach and Dive Resort promises to provide you with a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city through the many wonders of nature.

On top of that, you can also enjoy what is called "muck diving"—an activity that involves diving close to the seafloor and exploring the sand for the creatures and critters that make their home there. You can do this in the resort's 30 exciting dive sites, where you can pose for a picture with 650 documented species of fish and over 400 species of corals.
