Revenge travel is real: 1 in 5 Filipinos have already booked an international holiday in 2023
2023 is the year we get to travel again—and again and again.
If your feed is full of travelgrams from friends visiting different parts of the world this year, then wait until next year for more 'grams.
According to travel and experience platform Klook, people will pursue traveling again in 2023 after they found that 1 in 5 Filipinos have already booked international trips for next year. In the survey, it was also revealed that majority (44%) of the Filipinos are planning to make two to four trips next year.
Some (34%) are even willing to cut back on other expenses just to be able to go abroad or domestic.
But with this travel restart also comes anxiety. Aside from the concern about catching the COVID-19 virus during vacation, travelers worry about travel expenses.
In fact, about 4 in 5 travelers in Asia are anxious about traveling internationally given the economic uncertainties, while 79% of travelers in the Philippines are anxious about traveling internationally.
According to Klook, the top travel concerns from people in the Philippines are the cost of travel (63%), followed by having the right travel documentation (39%), flight delays and lost baggage (33%), catching COVID while traveling (31%), transportation (27%), and language barriers (26%).
Despite having second thoughts on booking international flights, some respondents said they are willing to make responsible choices and take extra precautions.
In 2022, it was revealed that Singapore, Korea, and Thailand are the most visited destinations from the Philippines. Klook also said that family-friendly attractions like museums and theme parks, as well as sightseeing spots are the top experiences enjoyed from the Philippines.
Most likely the trend will still follow next year as 35% said they will opt for a nearer destination or travel during off-peak seasons, while another 35% said they will explore less crowded places to minimize the risk and exposure to the virus.
Meanwhile, almost half of the respondents said that they will purchase travel insurance, too.
The survey just shows that travelers are more determined to travel next year. With the seat sales happening here and there, it's no wonder why people are excited to pack their bags!
