Ready for a new Halsey era?

Halsey announces on Tuesday that she will be releasing a new album, If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power, through a video of a billboard featuring the album title and producers.

The album will be produced by the award-winning Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of industrial music act, Nine Inch Nails (NIN).

In the 10-second video, Halsey sings a line, “All of this is temporary,” over heavy instrumentation, hinting a punk-rock era for the next addition in her discography.

Some fans were surprised by the exciting collaboration but others were quick to remember that earlier this month, Halsey posted an Instagram photo of a small NIN t-shirt over her baby bump.

Reznor and Ross have won Best Original Score at the 2021 Academy Awards and the Golden Globes, alongside Jon Batiste, for their work on Pixar’s Soul.

Further details of the upcoming project are yet to be shared, including its release date. Back in 2020, the singer-songwriter told Vogue that she would want to release a punk-rock album but it needs to come naturally.

If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power will follow Halsey’s third album, Manic, released in January 2020. She recently won Songwriter of the Year at the 2021 BMI Pop Music Awards.
