Santa Claus vs. Assassin in Mel Gibson’s ‘Fatman’ trailer

By Argie Aguja Published Oct 12, 2020 5:46 am

Santa Claus is the last person you would ever expect to appear in an R-18 Hollywood action movie. Definitely not your average Christmas movie in any way, shape or form. But that’s exactly what happens in the very dark and bizarre Fatman.

Saban Films recently released a three-minute trailer for Fatman, a darkly comedic action film about a gun-toting St. Nick battling a hired assassin while struggling to save his legacy at the North Pole.

Here’s the synopsis:

In an attempt to save his declining business, an angry Chris Cringle .ak.a Santa Claus (Mel Gibson) is forced into a partnership with the military. Making matters worse, Chris gets locked into a deadly battle of wits against a highly skilled assassin (Walton Goggins) hired by a devious 12-year-old after getting a lump of coal in his stocking.

To say that this uncanny depiction of an aging Santa Claus is unsettling would be an understatement. The failing business man resorting to desperate measures to bring joy to the children of the world would surely stop at nothing to keep things from spiraling out of control. Whether or not he succeeds is definitely worth finding out.

Fatman is directed by Eshom Nelms and Ian Nelms and will premiere in select theaters on Nov. 13, and video-on-demand by Nov. 17.
