Paramount announced the seventh installment of the popular alien robot franchise during their virtual press event to celebrate the start of its production.

Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts is looking to take on the storyline of the ’90s animated spin-off series Beast Wars.

It is said to feature the Maximals, the animal faction of the Autobots, which will also be joined by the Predacons and Terrorcons, the animal counterparts of the Decepticons.

Director Steven Caple Jr. and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed that the movie will partially be set in Brooklyn, New York, then will go to Peru among other locations.

Caple also said that fan-favorite Optimus Prime will be the protagonist, with Bumblebee loyally by his side once again.

Di Bonaventura said that there will  be other Autobots and the Decepticons never before seen on screen.

They will also be joined by the Maximals and Predacons, with Optimus Primal serving as the leader of the good guys while Scourge will be the big bad in the feature film with his minions in tow.

All robots will be designed after their toy and cartoon incarnations or simply put, they will be sporting their Generation 1 looks.

As for the human representatives, Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) and Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah) will be in the middle of the crossfire.

Ramos will be portraying Noah, an ex-military man who lives with his mother and brother while also serving as a father figure. He is said to specialize in tech or electronics which can come in handy when battling the bad guys.

Fishback on the other hand will be playing as Elena, an artifact researcher who works at the museum. While she is very good in her field, her boss always takes credit for her accomplishments.

Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts is set to release in theaters on June 24, 2022.
