After three long years of waiting, the inner child in us can start jumping for joy as Disney's streaming service, Disney+ (Disney Plus) is finally arriving in the Philippines this Nov. 17.

With this, you'll have an all-access subscription to all available works of Disney+ Originals, Pixar, and more. But with the plethora of new titles in the platform, you may be confused as to what to add on your watchlist

If so, then worry no more as we've gathered six must-watch movies from Disney, ranging from live-action reimaginings of classic films to highly anticipated sequels. Of course, let's not forget Disney's wide collection of gorgeously animated works.

Encanto

Kicking off the list is the Oscar-winning animated feature Encanto. This 2021 fantasy film has everything you can desire from a Disney jewel—catchy songs, magical elements, and a heartwarming story that'll teach you some important lessons.

Encanto tells the tale of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family who live in a magical house in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. Each child in the family is blessed with a unique gift, from super strength to the power to manipulate plants and flowers—all except Mirabel, who is plagued with insecurity because of this.

However, when the magic is threatened, Mirabel becomes her family’s last hope in solving the mysterious cause to preserve their wondrous gifts.

Pinocchio

One of Disney's newest live-action adaptations of a classic film, Pinocchio follows the titular wooden puppet we all know and love.

In case you haven't watched the original film, the story is about a kindhearted but lonely Italian woodcarver who crafts a puppet he names Pinocchio. After being suddenly brought to life by a blue fairy, he then strives to become a real boy in order to please his father.

To do this, Pinocchio must learn to be good and truthful, and should he ever lie, his nose will grow longer and longer. But the task is not as easy as it seems in a world full of temptation and trickery.

Disenchanted

Ever since Amy Adams starred as the naive and innocent Giselle in the 2007 romantic comedy Enchanted, fans have been eagerly waiting for a continuation of her happily ever after. Now, 15 years later, their wish has now come true with the upcoming sequel Disenchanted.

Giselle is now living with her husband Robert and his teenage daughter Morgan, but it seems that happily ever after has faded away from Giselle's reach as she has now grown disillusioned with life in the city. To fix this, she and her family move to a sleepy suburban community in search of a more fairy tale life.

Still not satisfied with this, she turns to the magic of Andalasia for help, but everything goes wrong as she accidentally transforms the entire town into a real-life fairy tale and places her family’s future happiness in jeopardy.

Disenchanted is set to premiere on Nov. 24.

Hocus Pocus 2

Another highly-anticipated sequel to a beloved film, Hocus Pocus 2 brings the Sanderson sisters back for more of their wicked tricks!

The film reunites original actresses Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the legendary witches Winifred, Sarah, and Mary. The original premise centers on a teenage boy resurrecting the sisters after lighting the Black Flame Candle. Now, 29 years later, the candle has been lit again, and the sisters are looking for revenge.

The fate of Salem now lies in the hands of three high-school students, who must stop the sisters from wreaking a new kind of havoc before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.

Raya and the Last Dragon

If you're on the hunt for an action-packed flick based on traditional Southeast Asian cultures, then look no further than Raya and the Last Dragon.

The film will have you gaping in wonder at the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together in harmony long ago. But the peaceful scene was eventually shattered when an evil force came upon the land and the dragons had to sacrifice themselves to save humanity.

Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people.

Frozen II

We still can't let go of the fluid animation and how catchy the songs were in 2013's Frozen. Enter Frozen II, which delves deeper into how queen Elsa got her mysterious icy powers as she goes on a dangerous adventure into the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle.

Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, Elsa must uncover the answers that are calling out to her before her entire kingdom perishes.

A mobile subscription to Disney Plus will cost you P159 per month while premium subscriptions, where you can stream with four devices at once, will cost P369 per month.
