Former Day6 member Jae Park has apologized for making a derogatory comment towards former JYP Entertainment labelmate and soloist Jamie.

Park was under fire after he described Jamie as a th*t during a livestream on Sunday, Jan. 9. The clip, which was uploaded by fans, showed him laughing after his comment, noting the soloist is a “friend.”

“Now that I’m not in K-pop anymore, I can say this. Why is Jamie trying to be a th*t,” Park said.

In another clip circulating on social media, the former Day6 member went on to say that the soloist has been posting photos “with these kinds of poses” which describes his comment “perfectly.”

“You’re posting this kind of picture with these kinds of poses, that makes me believe that you are perfectly described under that description of what I just said,” Park said.

Jamie indirectly responded to Park’s remark on the same day, expressing her sentiments on the matter.

“I hate that we as women have to be subjected to men’s humor to appease incels on the internet period,” Jamie said.

Park later took to his personal Twitter account to apologize to Jamie and “everyone about what I sent.” “It was most definitely a comment made in poor taste and I feel terrible for making Jamie feel the way she does.”

“What I thought was friendly banter I now realize wasn’t. In no way I was referencing any kind of physical behavior or energy (trying to take a slight at Jamie) but rather the aura of what people refer to as a ‘baddie’ and thought the two were synonymous, however, I do understand that this is in no way an excuse for my comment,” Park wrote.

Jamie hasn’t responded to Park’s apology, as of this writing.

Fans also shared their sentiments on the issue on social media.

Twitter user @Enormited said being friends with someone doesn’t give an individual the right to “joke about them without their consent.”

In a Twitter thread, @realhojong said Park and Jamie’s incident is an “example” of how men don’t “realize their boundaries” despite their closeness with others.

Meanwhile, @rm_crab said Jamie deserves a “serious apology” from Park.

Park debuted as the main vocalist and lead guitarist of Day6 in September 2015. He left the group and JYP Entertainment in December 2021.
