Proving that Halloween isn't just for the epic and fantastical outfits, 'mundane costumes' in Japan are once again making rounds on social media.

With the hashtag #地味ハロウィン2021, which loosely translates to #SimpleHalloween2021, Japanese people are sharing their take on the everyday occurrences that deserve a Halloween nod of their own.

The simple costume trend has been going around for some time now, with a similar trend going viral in Thailand back in 2020. This time around, other Asian countries are lending a hand with pandemic-related predicaments.

Need inspiration for next year's Halloween costumes? Here are some of the best mundane costumes this year.

Someone who brought an eco bag to shop, but it still couldn't fit

Someone who dropped his phone on his head while in bed

An office worker who forgot he's wearing a mask and drinks coffee

People who get distracted by their phones while decluttering
