Netflix announces new Mark Millar project, ‘King of Spies’

Netflix has announced that Kingsman co-creator Mark Millar will be releasing a new graphic novel, King of Spies

King of Spies follows “Britain's greatest secret agent,” on his mission to go against the “real monsters” before he goes, after being diagnosed with cancer. Deadline added that Sir Roland King has a brain tumor and wants to “make a difference with his particular set of skills, and repair the damage he did in his private life at the same time” with six months to live.

"The spy world was very good to us with Kingsman and a return to the genre had to be something special. This is that project. I love stories about an old gun-fighter back for one last job and this is the Granddaddy of them all," said writer Millar.

As per the artist of the upcoming comic, publishing house Millarworld said a “superstar artist” will be announced soon after it has found the “perfect” artist, a year and a half later.

The artwork featuring King with a shooting target and a car was illustrated by former DC art director Mark Chiarello and the portrait of King holding a shotgun was illustrated by Ozgur Yildirim. Millarworld, however, clarifies a different artist illustrated the graphic novel.

Millarworld’s Jupiter's Legacy on Netflix was canceled after its first season. Millar, whose credits include Kick-Ass, Superman: Red Son, Civil War, and Old Man Logan among others, sold his and Lucy Millar’s comic book publishing house Millarworld to Netflix in 2017.
