Is the 'Five Nights at Freddy's' film finally coming soon? Blumhouse CEO teases 'killer' animatronics photo
Will the long overdue Five Nights at Freddy's film adaptation finally see the light of day? Blumhouse Productions founder and CEO Jason Blum seems to assure that.
In a recent tweet, Blum posted a behind-the-scenes photo at the visual effects company Jim Henson’s Creature Shop showing an artist working on a figure. While still incomplete, the animatronic figure appears to resemble the series' mascot and main antagonist Freddy Fazbear, with his puffy chest, bowtie, and microphone.
Blum teased the photo with the caption, "It's great to be working with Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Their experience and expertise with animatronics is absolutely killer!"

Five Nights at Freddy's is a survival horror game focusing on murderous animatronics. The first game, released in 2014, follows a point-and-click element and revolves around a night shift security guard who must stay alive for six hours from the four animatronics bent on killing him: Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy.
Due to its popularity, the game has since expanded into a franchise with a total of nine games in the main series and five spin-off games. It has also released several books and graphic novels.
With such a big fanbase, the franchise was bound to have a film adaptation soon. And in 2015, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that it had taken interest in adapting the video game series into a feature film.
However, Scott Cawthon, the creator of the games, later posted on Steam Community that the adaptation was experiencing some troubles.
"The reality is that last year the FNaF (Five Nights at Freddy's) movie was met with several delays and roadblocks, some involving problems within the movie industry as a whole. As a result, as of right now, the movie is back at square one," he wrote.
But the adaptation didn't completely go down the drain as it would later find a home in Blumhouse Productions, a studio known for memorable horror films such as Paranormal Activity and Insidious.
In an interview with Deadline, Blum said that the Five Nights at Freddy's film is close.
"I’m very excited about Five Nights at Freddy’s, which has been a long time coming, but we’re getting very close. As I tweeted the other day, dangerously close," he said.
