Now that Leni Robredo has formally announced her 2022 president bid, fans are calling on the iconic OPM band Eraserhands to make their long-awaited comeback following the band's frontman Ely Buendia's previous statement.

Buendia earlier stated on Twitter that there’s a chance for the band to reunite if Robredo runs for president.

But after his original statement went the rounds on social media, however, Buendia clarified that his political views “are my own” and they don’t “represent the views” of his bandmates.

Robredo has recently announced that she will run for president in the 2022 elections on Thursday, Oct. 7. She is set to formalize her presidential bid at 3 p.m. on the same day.

But no matter Buendia's clarification, fans are still taking him up on his previous statement after Robredo's announcement. In a tweet, human rights lawyer Theodore Te requested for the band’s “sound check.”

Twitter user @anongskee tagged Buendia on Twitter as a “gentle follow-up.”

@maroontito posted a funny meme of TV host Steve Harvey after Robredo’s announcement.

Aside from Eraserheads, Twitter user @kitokun_ also called the attention of OPM rock band Moonstar88 to perform.

@acesilog posted a screenshot of the hashtag #LetLeniLead2022 which was trending on Twitter under the music category, seemingly alluding to Buendia’s previous statement.

Content creator Your Millennial Psychologist called for the OPM band to reunite on their Facebook page.

Facebook user Jaecee Araneta Lim urged Buendia to “fulfill his promise” of reuniting Eraserheads after Robredo’s announcement.

There are now 41 candidates who formalized their bid to run for president, namely, Senator Panfilo Lacson, Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno, Senator Manny Pacquiao, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, and labor leader Leody De Guzman, among others.

The deadline for the filing of certificates of candidacy for the May 2022 elections is on Oct. 8.
