WATCH: First 10 minutes of ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ released on YouTube

Sony Pictures has released the first ten minutes of Ghostbusters: Afterlife for free on YouTube for fans who haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet.

The movie, which is scheduled for screening in theaters in the Philippines on Jan. 26, is also being released on digital platforms including Blu-Ray next month. To promote its home release Sony Pictures has released an extended preview of the film on the official Ghostbusters YouTube channel.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife serves as a legacy story honoring the franchise and the late Harold Ramis, who portrayed Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989).

Hailing from co-writer/director Jason Reitman, son of original director and producer Ivan, and Gil Kenan, Afterlife serves as a direct sequel to the first two Ghostbusters movies, choosing to ignore the events of Paul Feig's 2016 reboot, which performed poorly at the box office.

The Ghostbusters: Afterlife extended preview kicks off with a scene showing a mysterious figure fleeing from an invisible threat with a used ghost trap in his posession. Then viewers are introduced to single mom Callie (Carrie Coon) and her two kids, Trevor (Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) as they are evicted and move to a small Oklahoma town to inherit their grandfather's decaying farmhouse.

Upon arriving, the kids learn their grandfather was Egon Spengler and discover his legacy as a Ghostbuster, as well as his investigation into a local mine with ties to the Manhattan Crossrip of 1984.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife also stars fellow franchise newcomers Paul Rudd, Logan Kim and Celeste O'Connor and returning stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is now available on VOD and is set to hit shelves on 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Feb. 1.

The film, which was released in the US in November 2021, is scheduled to be screened in theaters in the Philippines on Jan. 26, 2022.
