Swifties have gone on to call him the President of the fandom.
Chile's youngest President Gabriel Boric has been getting swift praise after the 35-year-old president-elect came to Taylor Swift's defense following a statement from Blur frontman Damon Albarn that the Swift didn't write her own songs.
"Here in Chile you have a huge group of supporters who knows that you write [your] own songs from the heart. Don't take seriously guys that need to insult or lie to get attention. Hugs from the south Taylor," Boric said in a Tweet that now has over 95.5k likes and 11.4k retweets.

Though it might sound like a crossover of epic proportions, fans were quick to recall that Boric has long been a certified Swiftie.
Reports of Boric's fanaticism first started when he was asked by constituents in a Chilean airport if he was indeed a fan of the artist, to which he casually whipped out a photo of Swift from his pocket.

Before long, Swift fan accounts unearthed old photos of the politician wearing Taylor Swift merch such as her special-edition cable knit cardigan and even holding up a meme photo of the artist.

In an interview shortly after the viral video, the politician said that the photo was given to him earlier that day and wondered aloud if his video will ever reach Taylor. He then opened a gift basket filled with Folklore cookies and a CD given to him by Chilean Swifties.

Months before winning the Chilean presidency, Boric also shared that he's been "feeling Swiftie" in Spanish.
Boric's pop culture interests don't end with Swift though, as he's also been vocal about being a fan of The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascual. He also wore Nirvana T-shirt as a guest of honor in one event.

The 35-year-old president-elect won the Chilen national elections in December of 2021. He's currently serving under the country's Chamber of Deputies until his inauguration on March 11.
Pundits say the millennial politician's win symbolizes a "generational shift" for Chile after he defeated far-right opponent Antonio Kast in a landslide victory. On Jan. 21, Boric introduced his cabinet members which are mostly comprised of women and former student activists.
