Typhoon Odette (known internationally as Rai) devastated parts of the Philippines in Visayas and Mindanao on Thursday (Dec. 16), becoming one of the strongest typhoons to hit the country this year.
Odette has displaced more than 300,000 people as it barrelled through the island provinces of Siargao, Dinagat, Bohol, Cebu, the western portion of Visayas, and mainland Palawan, among others.
Tryke “TryQ” Gutierrez, co-founder of Tier One Entertainment, which runs Blacklist International, shared photos of devastated areas in Cebu and announced that their team was looking for ways to help on his Facebook page on Saturday (Dec. 18).
“A lot of friends have been messaging me about how bad the situation is in Cebu and other parts of southern PH right now. Let's help spread the news. Our team is already looking for ways to send our donations to the victims of Typhoon Odette,” he wrote.
TryQ added updates on how some people in Leyte have shown support for the Filipino team during the M3.
"Some people had checked the updates about Blacklist's M3 run on top of a hill in southern Leyte and sent the standings to him when they were able to get signal despite their situation on the other picture. My heart [melts],” TryQ said in his post.
“For Tier One and Blacklist, we have already announced yesterday that we will be spending a portion of our winnings in M3 win or lose for food and other donations and we are currently working with our streamers and staff to help get our donations to the areas that need help the most,” he added.
He encouraged other streamers to use their platforms to help spread the awareness on the matter as "not a lot of people know the gravity of the effects of typhoon Odette yet."
Blacklist International swept fellow Filipino team ONIC Philippines in the M3 World Championship grand finals, 4-0 on Sunday (Dec. 19) and were crowned as the new MLBB world champions. The team claimed the grand prize of $300,000 for their victory.

Ahead of the all-Filipino match at the eSports event, the crowd at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre gave a moment of silence for the typhoon victims.
After winning the world championship, Blacklist International reiterated that a portion of their winnings would be donated towards relief for survivors of typhoon Odette in the Philippines.
We also hope you can join us in our next mission to help the victims of typhoon Odette in the Philippines. We will be donating a portion of our winnings to those affected.— Blacklist International (@BLACKLISTINTL) December 19, 2021
