The president of Sony Pictures has hinted that the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home film will introduce a shared Marvel Universe.

Speaking to Variety, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch revealed that there's actually a "plan" to connect the studio's upcoming Spider-Man spin-off films to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“There actually is a plan. I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when No Way Home comes out, even more will be revealed," he said.

Although Panitch did not provide other details, his statement may have just confirmed that the highly-awaited Spider-Man film will finally allow Peter Parker, currently played by Tom Holland, to swing between Marvel and Sony's shared universe and appear opposite his long-time foes like Venom, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter.

“The great thing is we have this very excellent relationship with Kevin,” Panitch said. “There’s an incredible sandbox there to play with. We want those MCU movies to be absolutely huge, because that’s great for us and our Marvel characters, and I think that’s the same thing on their side. But we have a great relationship. There’s lots of opportunities, I think, that are going to happen.”

As of now, Sony Pictures is currently developing three Spider-Man spin-off movies based on the characters from Marvel: Venom: Let There Be Carnage (Tom Hardy), Morbius (Jared Leto), and Kraven the Hunter, which will be played by Avengers: Age of Ultron's Aaron Taylor-Johnson. However, there's no clear indication if Peter Parker will actually appear in the upcoming films.

“We don’t really think of our 900 characters as the Spidey-verse,” he said. “We have a Marvel universe. The volume of characters we have—you know, wait until you see this next Venom. You don’t miss Spider-Man.” But then he continued: “It’ll be exciting if they do meet, right?”

As for the third Holland-led Spider-Man film, fans are expecting that the movie will pave the way for the much-anticipated multiverse crossover, bringing former web-slingers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back into action. However, Holland and Garfield previously tried their best to debunk the rumors, saying that the former iterations of the web-crawler won't be appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
