Weekend Watchlist: ‘Trese,’ ‘Lupin Part 2’ and more

Trese, the long-awaited anime adaptation of the Filipino comic book created by writer Budjette Tan and artist Kajo Baldisimo, is finally on Netflix!

There’s no doubt that Pinoy viewers will be watching the various dubs in English, Filipino and Japanese this coming weekend.

When you’re done watching the anime series, you can also catch the Netflix special, Trese After Dark, hosted by Atom Araullo to learn more about the show from the amazing people behind it.

Aside from Trese, there are a bunch of new additions to the streaming giant Netflix, including Part 2 of Lupin, new suspense film Awake, and a couple of K-dramas to keep you occupied. 

Here’s the latest roundup of new series and films streaming on Netflix this week.

Trese

Synopsis: In Manila, where dark supernatural forces pervade the criminal underworld, it’s up to Alexandra Trese to keep the peace — but there’s a storm brewing.

Trese After Dark

Synopsis: Stars and creators gather to discuss “Trese,” from its Filipino folklore inspirations to the comic’s beginnings and its journey to an anime series.

Lupin: Part 2

Synopsis: Inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin, gentleman thief Assane Diop sets out to avenge his father for an injustice inflicted by a wealthy family.

Awake

Synopsis: After a global event wipes out humanity's ability to sleep, a troubled ex-soldier fights to save her family as society and her mind spiral into chaos.

Wish Dragon

Synopsis: Determined teen Din is longing to reconnect with his childhood best friend when he meets a wish-granting dragon who shows him the magic of possibilities.

Tragic Jungle

Synopsis: To escape an arranged marriage, a woman flees into the depths of the Mayan jungle, where untamed nature merges the human and the supernatural.

Down to Earth with Zac Efron: Season 1

Synopsis: Actor Zac Efron journeys around the world with wellness expert Darin Olien in a travel show that explores healthy, sustainable ways to live.
