‘It just felt right’: Celebs who got engaged before the New Year
We’ve seen a lot of celebrity proposals and engagements this year.
From Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano’s buzzy engagement to Philmar Alipayo’s simple but sweet proposal to Andi Eigenmann, it’s obvious that these stars didn’t let anything—including a pandemic—get in the way of their love.
And it seems like there are a couple of other celebrities who are joining the long list of stars who got engaged in 2020.
Glaiza de Castro and David Rainey
On Christmas Eve, actress Glaiza de Castro took to Instagram to reveal a big news—her engagement to Irish boyfriend David Rainey.
The proposal happened in Ireland, where Glaiza is spending the holidays with David and his family.
“Who would’ve thought I’d say yes in freezing cold weather,” Glaiza said.
She added, “It just felt right.”
Glaiza and David have been in a relationship since 2018.
Morisette Amon and Dave Lamar
Morisette Amon revealed in a social media post on Tuesday, December 22 that she is engaged to fellow singer Dave Lamar
The 24-year-old singer said their engagement happened over two months ago.
“More than just an 11:11 wish, you're an answered prayer. I love you,” Morisette said of Dave. “Always have and always will.”
She added, “Nine years since we've met, best friends for seven, our second round at love, each other's firsts, and now, last and only.”
Meanwhile, Dave wrote on his Instagram post: “Thank you for saying yes to a lifetime of adventures with me. I adore you with all my heart and I am so blessed and excited that I get to experience the rest of this life with you by my side.”
“I know everyone says this, but you have truly been my best friend and my rock, and I am so so excited that I will get to marry my best friend. Morissette, Thank you for being mine!”
Roxanne Barcelo
Roxanne Barcelo surprised her followers by revealing that she had gotten engaged and married this year.
In a YouTube video posted on Thursday, December 24, the actress said: “My partner asked me to marry him and he said he wants to start a family with me. It was a beautiful moment because he asked me twice.”
She added, “He actually asked me a few months after quarantine, pero since naka-lockdown pa noon, all we knew was we were going to get married before the year ends.”
Roxanne did not reveal when she had gotten engaged.
She also did not reveal the identity of her husband.
The 35-year-old actress posted their wedding photos on Instagram on Friday, December 25.
“Merry Christmas from me and my husband,” she wrote in the caption, with the hashtag #flashbackfriday.
In another photo, she said: “My Creator’s best gift ever.”
Tippy dos Santos and Miguel Porcina
Actress-singer Tippy dos Santos announced her engagement to non-showbiz boyfriend Miguel Porcina on December 25.
Tippy revealed the engagement through an Instagram post.
“I can’t wait to start this new chapter with you, my love. Everyday in every way,” she said.
Tippy and Miguel have been together for over three years.
