The OG Wolverine is back! Hugh Jackman is shaking up the Internet with the announcement of his appearance in the upcoming Deadpool 3 produced by Marvel Studios.

On September 28, Wednesday, Ryan Reynolds announced Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

In a video entitled ‘Deadpool Update’ via Ryan Reynolds’ YouTube account, the actor started by apologizing to the fans for their absence at the D23 Expo 2022, and proceeded to share how they worked hard for the third Deadpool movie.

Reynold also dug into details on the process of making the said film, saying they were constantly in search of “new depth and motivation” as well as “new meaning” to the film.

“We need to stay true to the character. Find new depth and motivation, new meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside,” Reynolds said.

Ryan Reynolds admitted that he had no idea on how to set the upcoming release apart from the others.

He exclaimed, “I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here and terrifying,” and jokingly pointed his head to emphasize his point.

After all the ruckus, Hugh Jackman made a brief cameo walking past and going up the stairs as Ryan Reynolds dropped the bomb about the ultimate crossover.

Reynolds asked Hugh Jackman if he was still interested in playing Wolverine one more time. With no hesitations, Hugh answered, “Sure, Ryan.”

Jackman uploaded the same video on his Twitter account with the caption, ‘Yeah, sure.’

The video concludes with Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you” playing in the background, and “I will always love Hugh” after Jackman accepted the role, along with the logo of Deadpool getting Wolverine's signature adamantium slashmarks.

Back in 2017, Hugh Jackman announced his retirement from playing the Wolverine after 17 years after the movie Logan came out. Jackman first debuted as Wolverine in 2000's X–Men under 20th Century Studio Productions.

Deadpool 3 is expected to be released on September 6, 2024.
