‘Stranger Things’ drops eerie Season 4 teaser: ‘Eleven, are you listening?’

Hit series Stranger Things dropped its second, eerie season 4 teaser tonight, May 6.

Created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, the American scifi-horror series is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana.

No date has been released for the premiere of the pandemic-delayed season.

No details have been released either, but the Duffer Brothers, also the series’ showrunners, said last year that one character is returning. “We’re excited to officially confirm that production on Stranger Things 4 is now underway—and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper,” they wrote in a note to fans accompanying the release of the first Season 4 teaser.

In this second teaser for Season 4, a villain returns as viewers are treated to the skin-crawling voice of (former) Hawkins National Laboratory director Dr. Brenner, played to creep-tastic effect by veteran actor Matthew Modine (Vision Quest, Memphis Belle, Flowers for Algernon).

Teaser #2 seemingly flashes back to Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) time back at the lab, seeing as Dr. Brenner was allegedely killed at the end of Seaosn 1, but another character from Season 2 had hinted that the bad doctor may still be alive.

The third season started streaming on Netflix in July 2019 and focused on Eleven and Mike's (Finn Wolfhard) relationship as the kids continue their battle against the Upside Down entities.

Its final episode saw Eleven ridding herself of a piece of the Mind Flyer that had been embedded in her wound. While the others distract the Mind Flayer by attacking it with fireworks, Eleven is able to awaken Billy's mind from his memories, and Billy (Dacre Montgomery) sacrifices himself to protect Eleven.

Watch the new teaser for season 4 below.

An interesting detail can be found at the caption section of the video which contains a lone string of numbers—"002/004." This appears on the official Stranger Things YouTube channel, and looking back at the first teaser video for Season 4 which appeared in February 2020, the numbers "001/004" are listed there as well.

There's a strong chance we'll get two more teasers (or one teaser and a full trailer, perhaps?) in the future right before the season drops. Let's all hope it doesn't take another year for the "003/004" trailer to make an appearance.
