‘God of War’ actor Christopher Judge to voice Black Panther in ‘Marvel’s Avengers’

The voice actor who gave life to Kratos in the 2018 sequel of God of War will also be the voice of King T’Challa in the latest Marvel’s Avengers Black Panther expansion: War for Wakanda.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, the talented actor expressed his reluctance at first to portray Wakanda’s protector, stating that he immediately turned down the first offer.

"There's many Black Panthers, but I really didn't believe that anyone should ever do T'Challa again [after Boseman]. The actual talks proceeded and, basically, I wound up doing it because my mother and my children said if I didn't do it, they would disown me," said Judge.

The War for Wakanda expansion for Marvel’s Avengers will put the players deep in the jungles surrounding the hidden technological haven of Wakanda, adding a new story for players to unveil.

The Avengers and the people of Wakanda will be against the forces of Ulysses Klaue or “Klaw,” who aims to steal the country’s vibranium reserves for his own use.

The DLC will also make Black Panther himself available to play once it drops, which fans say is long overdue after Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed the MCU’s Black Panther, died of colon cancer last year.

"To be quite honest, I was fearful of being compared to what Chadwick had so wonderfully done," Judge added. "The only way I could really wrap my head around it was to not even attempt a voice match, to let my performance stand on its own. I put all that into it and hopefully people like it."

Marvel’s Avengers is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia, and PC and the War for Wakanda expansion will be released this August.
