BDO's buggy app update finds users way frustrated

So, has BDO really found a way?

Twitter and Facebook fumed Tuesday night with complaints from iPhone users on iOS 14, saying Banco de Oro's mobile app still encountered some issues.

Apple's latest software update has apparently left the BDO Unibank app inaccessible.

A quick launch of the BDO app as of press time would lead one to the message: "There was a problem connecting to BDO Mobile Banking. Please check you Internet connection and try again."

This, despite BDO listed the following app updates on the App Store: "Full compatibility" with IOS 14, an Instapay QR PH feature that allows users to send and receive payment, and QR codes that lets users withdraw money with "no card needed!"

BDO earlier released an apology on its Facebook page, along with a notice that it has addressed the issue.

"To our BDO customers on iOS 14: You may now update BDO Digital Banking to Version 5.8.1, available on the App Store. We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience our delay in supporting iOS 14 has caused you. We are working to improve our Digital Banking experience so we can serve you better. Thank you for your patience."

Despite all the announcements, affected clients hastily called out BDO out in the comments section of the Facebook post.

"Wow ang life changing ng update ha?  d parin makalog in. Fix the app instead," Facebook user Lester Chan said.

"Tried accessing through desktop and device. Both not working!" Cla Pablo-Caduyac added.

"Can’t send you a (message) and all customer care hotline seems like avoiding calls as it has been busy everyday morning till afternoon. How are we (supposed) to get intouch with you right away if we have concerns?" Prince Andrei Mendoza said.

As of press time, the post has already earned around 1.2k "angry" reactions (out of around 4.8k) and 3.8k comments. It also has gone viral with more than 3.2k shares.

Clients on Twitter also sent out their rants regarding the issue.

BDO started receiving complaints from the same group of users since late last week, following Apple's update that has introduced home widgets and addressed bugs. The bank has since released an advisory on fixing the compatibility the soonest it could.

Experts earlier warned iPhone users about updating to iOS 14 immediately. They predicted bugs with the mega tech brand only leaving developers a day's notice on iOS 14, instead of the previous full week timeframe.
