Kris Aquino’s ‘first date’ with Mel Sarmiento? At a fast food restaurant, wearing a gown
What an unforgettable first date it was for Kris Aquino and her fiancé, businessman Mel Sarmiento.
The engaged couple spent their “first date” at a fast-food restaurant in formal wear—Aquino was in a blue turtle-neck gown, while Sarmiento sported a classic barong Tagalog.
Sharing some snaps on Instagram, the host shared that they decided to drop by a McDonald’s store on their way home from a wedding ceremony. “It was more than 3 hrs to get back kaya nag stop sa fast food and it’s been YEARS since i’ve entered that particular brand and after the pandemic naaliw sa kin everyone with me especially Mel, because i said ang sarap maging normal, regular person,” she wrote in the caption.
When her friend said no one dines in a fast food chain wearing a gown and taking photos with supporters, Aquino gave a candid comment: “Walang basagan ng trip,” she recalled, expressing her gratitude to the restaurant staff “for having been so gracious & opening up an area for us.”
“1st time Mel and I ever ate out so you can say it was our 1st date—we won’t forget you,” she added.
Aquino and Sarmiento confirmed their relationship in August. Two months later, they happily announced their engagement through an IG video.
