As part of SEGA’s celebration for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary, the beloved blue speeding hedgehog will be heading over to the sandbox video game Minecraft.

SEGA recently dropped the Sonic Minecraft DLC official trailer featuring the iconic characters of the franchise in their blockiest design yet! That’s right, Sonic the Hedgehog fans and Minecraft players can play as Sonic and the gang while racing against friends, collecting rings, and discovering hidden secrets.

Fans can expect to see Miles “Tails” Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Shadow the Hedgehog, Super Sonic, and Dr. Robotnik in the DLC pack, including familiar terrain found in the franchise such as the Green Hills Zone and Chemical Plant Zone. The DLC also offers a free Character Creator item.

As part of the celebration, Minecraft has prepared a special server event with a new mini-game and more surprises to come. According to SEGA, the DLC is available on all major platforms and can be accessed now.

The Sonic the Hedgehog DLC can be purchased in-game for 1340 Minecoins.

Besides the Minecraft DLC, SEGA has more in store for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th birthday on June 23 with a variety of upcoming projects. Included in the anniversary special are Sonic Colors: Ultimate, a remake of the Nintendo DS and Wii 2010 game, and a Sonic the Hedgehog classic retro collection which includes the original Sonic game, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. A brand new Sonic the Hedgehog video game is also expected to be released by 2022.
