Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo is now a Kapuso.
The 25-year-old beauty queen signed with GMA Network after months of speculation and an appearance in the Halloween episode of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.
After her contract signing, Rabiya shared that she was nearly in tears over GMA's trust.
"It’s the joy talaga of fulfilling another dream. Of the trust na binigay sayo ng network... I’m not yet well-experienced, but they believed in the potential they saw in me."
Mateo has long been teasing a new journey in showbiz. In September, she told Miss Universe Indonesia 2020 Ayu Maulid that she had been in talks of signing with a local TV network after wrapping up her beauty queen journey.
In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, she also spoke of taking acting classes to further her craft.
“I told myself that I should probably read comments of bashers on social media to help me cry before a scene," she said. “But you know what? I’m very much open to doing kontrabida roles. I think they’re more challenging and satisfying to do.”
Her first role as a GMA artist will be in the series Agimat Ng Agila alongside Senator Bong Revilla Jr. and Sanya Lopez.
Rabiya's Miss Universe Philippines 2020 reign ended in September after crowning her successor, Cebu's Beatrice Luigi Gomez.
