Red Notice, the most expensive film Netflix has ever produced, has reportedly become the most-watched film ever on the streaming service on its opening day.

The blockbuster film starring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson released Friday (Nov. 12) quickly topped all the Netflix Top 10 charts in the majority of countries across the world.

“WOW #RedNotice is Netflix biggest ever opening day for a film,” Reynolds wrote on his Twitter and Instagram to toast the record-breaking achievement. Congrats to this whole team!

“Can’t wait for Red Notice (Taylor’s version),” Reynolds jokingly added, referring to Taylor Swift‘s new album ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’, which came out on the same day as the film.

Johnson celebrated with a video message taken at a gym on his Instagram, writing: “It’s official as the numbers are coming in from 190 territories around the world.

"Red Notice has become the biggest opening ever ~ for any movie in the history of Netflix!"

"Still processing this historic industry news. Red Notice shattered opening day records for Netflix around the world with an outstanding 92 percent audience score. As numbers roll in, I’ll have a lot more big news to share," he added in a subsequent Instagram post Sunday (Nov. 14).

Red Notice sees Johnson play FBI’s top profiler John Hartley who finds himself forced to partner up with Reynolds’ Nolan Booth, the world’s greatest art thief, in order to catch the world’s most wanted art thief, Gadot’s “The Bishop.”

The daring heist takes the trio in a globetrotting advenure reminiscent of classic Indiana Jones movies in pursuit of three golden eggs created by Marc Anthony for his love Cleopatra. The third golden egg is missing, its location unknown. Fortunately, Nolan Booth is the only one who knows how to find it.

Red Notice is Netflix’s most expensive film ever produced to date, with a $200 million budget. The movie had a limited run in theaters leading up to its streaming premiere on Netflix, which makes its huge first-day streaming numbers even more impressive.

In local news, the iconic globe of SM Mall of Asia which was reportedly "stolen" on Saturday night, was revealed to be a publicity stunt to promote the film.

Red Notice is currently streaming on Netflix.
