Jang Kiyong revealed that being paired up with Song Hyekyo in the romance K-drama Now, We Are Breaking Up felt like achieving a “goal that felt very far away.”

Kiyong couldn’t hide his admiration for Hyekyo in a Dazed magazine interview translated via Soompi. “Working with Song Hyekyo was—how should I put it? Like a goal that felt very far away. Something that I had only pictured in my imagination ended up becoming a reality sooner than I’d expected, so starting from our first drama meeting, I felt really amazed.”

The actor admitted that he wanted “to do a good job” with his onscreen partner to maintain a professional working relationship. “When (we) stood together, I wanted us to look entirely like Ha Youngeun and Yoon Jaeguk, not like senior and junior colleagues.”

Meanwhile, Hyekyo described Kiyong as a “pure, sunny, cheerful, and untainted guy” who didn’t give her a hard time during filming.

Even if Kiyong is younger than Hyekyo by 11 years, she said her leading man is a “mature kid who didn’t worry about his pride when it came to seeking out help or asking questions.”

Now, We Are Breaking Up tells the story of fashion designer Ha Youngeun (Song Hyekyo) as she crosses paths with freelance photographer Yoon Jaeguk (Jang Kiyong).
