Coco Martin to return on primetime TV for ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ with Lovi Poe

Coco Martin is set to be back on primetime television following the successful seven-year run of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

On Monday, Dec. 5, ABS-CBN announced its adaptation of Fernando Poe Jr.'s 1986 film Batang Quiapo in a series of tweets. It boasts a star-studded cast, with FPJ's daughter, actress Lovi Poe portraying Coco's love interest and the network's executive Charo Santos-Concio as Coco's grandmother.

Also part of the upcoming TV series are politicians Lito and Mark Lapid, John Estrada, Cherry Pie Picache, Pen and Ping Medina, Christopher De Leon, Susan Africa, Tommy Abuel, Allan Paule, Coco's brother Ronwaldo Martin, Benzon and Mercedes Cabral. 

Kapamilya stars Elisse Joson, Roxanne Guinoo, Irma Adlawan, Ronnie Lazaro, and McCoy de Leon will also make an appearance on the show.

On top of his responsibilities as its lead star, Coco will direct Batang Quiapo alongside Malu Sevilla. He will also co-produce the TV series.

FPJ's Batang Quiapo is slated for release in 2023.
