'I'm still waiting for ABS-CBN to have free TV': Boy Abunda denies rumors he is moving to GMA

Veteran TV host Boy Abunda has set the record straight amid rumors speculating he will switch networks, maintaining that he is sticking with ABS-CBN.

"Nahiya tuloy ako sa Channel 7, walang namang offer sa'kin," Abunda admitted in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

He shared that he has been in talks with other networks since the beginning of the pandemic. "I have been in discussion with various parties, including people from Channel 7. I’ve been asked by people affiliated with TV5 and I’ve been negotiating with other independent producers to do talk shows, yes."

But the talk show host says he's waiting for ABS-CBN's comeback.

"I'm still waiting for ABS-CBN to have free TV," he said.

The veteran TV host took a break from his late-night show Tonight With Boy Abunda when lockdowns began in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His return to television was further halted when ABS-CBN's franchise was revoked in May 2020 and when Congress didn't renew the network's franchise application in July 2020.

After over a year off TV, Abunda expressed that he wants to go back to doing shows.

"I want to go back to television. I miss television. I miss doing my talk shows on televisions," he repeated.

Although he didn't want to think about it, Abunda said if ABS-CBN's franchise won't be renewed, he may consider switching networks then.

"Kung walang wala na talaga, eh di mag-a-apply na ako sa iba," said Abunda.
