Everything new and spooky coming to Netflix this October

As the spookiest time of the year is creeping closer, Netflix is preparing to scare you out of your wits with its new list of spine-chilling movies and shows guaranteed to keep you awake at night.

In the coming month, the streaming giant is set to debut some much-awaited shows and films like the adaptation of the popular fantasy books The School for Good and Evil, acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, and the animated horror film Wendell & Wild. Here are other thrilling titles to give you nightmares this October.

Mr. Harrigan's Phone

October 5

Some connections never die, and Mr. Harrigan's Phone takes that phrase to a terrifying level as it follows a young boy named Craig and an old man named Mr. Harrigan who, despite being separated by their age, form a close bond through their love for books and getting their first iPhones.

However, tragedy strikes their friendship when Mr. Harrigan passes away. Craig then leaves a voicemail to the old man's phone number to cry about the abuse he receives from one of his bullies, only to find that Mr. Harrigan's spirit has taken his grievances to his own hands by taking revenge on the bully from beyond the grave.

The Midnight Club

October 7

From the producers of the acclaimed horror series The Haunting of Hill House comes another frightening series about a group of terminally ill patients in a hospital who come together at midnight to tell each other scary stories. 

One night, they make a pact that when one of them dies, they will give the group a sign from the afterlife. However, when one of them indeed succumbs, strange things begin to occur.

The Curse of Bridge Hollow

October 14

Looking for something less traumatizing and could give you a few laughs along the way? The Curse of Bridge Hollow may be the film you're looking for.

Starring the ever funny Marlon Wayans, the film follows a family who moves into a town whose residents go grazy with decorations very spooky season, which results in the Halloween-hating dad clashing with his Halloween-loving daughter.

However, they are forced to team up when an ancient and mischievous spirit is released and causes the creepy decorations to come to life and wreak havoc on their community.

The School for Good and Evil

October 19

Based on the epic international best-selling series by Soman Chainani, The School for Good and Evil centers on the adventures of Sophie and Agatha, whose friendship is put to the test after they are whisked away into a magical school for future fairy-tale heroes and villains.

Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities

October 25

If you're on the hunt for a terrifying show that gives you something new each episode, then be careful what you wish for as Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities is here to dig deep into your darkest fears.

The upcoming anthology series is sure to bring you a variety of scares as it features a collection of eight short stories that are helmed by seasoned directors hand-picked by del Toro himself.

Cabinet of Curiosities will not be releasing its episodes all at once. Instead, it will be releasing two episodes each day for four days, starting on Oct. 25. By Oct. 28, all of the eight episodes will be available to watch.

Wendell & Wild

October 28

This stop-motion horror comedy film is definitely something to look forward to, especially since it was made through the collaborative efforts of two acclaimed filmmakers: The Nightmate Before Christmas and Coraline's Henry Selick and Get Out's Jordan Peele.

Based on an unpublished book of the same name by Selick and Clay McLeod Chapman, Wendell & Wild is about a troubled teen who must deal with two demons named Wendell and Wild who are tryting to get her to summon them to the land of the living. She must now confront the scheming duo if she wants to live peacefully in her old hometown.
