Lebron James ‘didn’t like the ending’ of ‘Squid Game' and says Gihun should've acted differently
Basketball superstar Lebron James didn’t seem too thrilled about the ending of the dystopian K-drama Squid Game, saying Gihun should’ve acted differently.
James caught up with teammate Anthony Davis to discuss the ending of the survival series after his post-game presser for the Los Angeles Lakers pre-season loss to the Golden State Warriors.
“Yeah, I did finish it,” James said to Davis as he got up from the presser. “You finish it? You watched it? You done?"
Squid Game’s final episode sees the series protagonist Gihyun about to board the plane to meet his daughter in the US. His plans were interrupted when he witnessed the mysterious Salesman luring a potential player to join the games.

“I didn’t like the ending though… Get on the f–king flight to see your daughter. What are you doing? It’s ₩5 billion, bro. What the f–k are you doing,” James said to Davis.
The four-time NBA champion went on to criticize Gihun, implying that he should’ve been contented with his prize money.
James lit up social media after his thoughts about the ending, sparking mixed reactions from K-drama and sports fans.
Twitter user @ItsCharissaaa commented that it was James, “of all people,” to spoil the series’ ending for her.
Out of all people, Lebron spoilt the end of Squid Games for me ?. With that being said, what kinda dumb ending was that…— Charissa (sha•ris•sa) (@ItsCharissaaa) October 13, 2021
@yunniekim explained that Gihun’s decision was already foreshadowed in his confrontation with Ilnam (Player 001) at the beginning of the final episode.

Also, the reasoning for his desire to do something about the squid game is all explained in that dialogue at the end during the twist! (Trying to discuss without any spoilers)
@TFitzgerald24 agreed with James’ thoughts about the ending, saying Gihun “thought he was John Wick.”

Entertainment website Fandom’s managing editor @TheEricGoldman joked that James wouldn't be an "expert" in the games, even if he's "great at playing Space Jam." The basketball star is the protagonist of the 2021 comedy film Space Jam: A New Legacy.
Just because you’re great at playing Space Jams doesn’t mean you would be an expert at Squid Games, LeBron. https://t.co/2JuOYHgaBY— Evil Eric Goldman (@TheEricGoldman) October 13, 2021
@Realmaddimadd explained that Gihun wanted to avenge the players who died in the games.
SHOULD HE HAVE BOARDED THE FLIGHT "YES" BUT HE DIDNT BCUS HE WANTS TO DESTROY THE GAME THAT HE'S SEEN DESTROY SO MANY LIVES. #squidgamenetflix #SQUIDGAME @KingJames @AntDavis23— REALMADDIMADD (@Realmaddimadd) October 13, 2021

@Eddyc85 said James “would only win” Squid Game if he teamed up with Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of The Hunger Games trilogy.
LeBron would only win Squid Game if he could recruit Katniss Everdeen to play with him. https://t.co/ktaB1RmMjd— Eddyc85 (@Eddyc85) October 13, 2021
