Ewan McGregor's 'Long Way Up' will take viewers on epic motorcycle road trip

The British television series Long Way Round which followed Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s epic motorcycle journey from London to New York City in 2004 and follow-up Long Way Down, which took them from Scotland to Cape Town in Africa in 2007, inspired riders around the world to embark on their own epic motorcycle quests.

Now, the actor behind Star Wars’ Obi-Wan Kenobi and Trainspotting is turning his love of epic motorcycle road trips into a new Apple TV+ docuseries, aptly called Long Way Up.

The premise for the series finds the world-famous actor reuniting with his best friend, Boorman, son of Excalibur and Zardoz director John Boorman, over a decade since their last adventure. The riding buddies are up for the challenge, this time on board electric Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorcycles.

“We’ll ride 13,000 miles, from the southern tip of Argentina all the way to Los Angeles. And if that wasn’t enough of a challenge, we wanted to see if we could do it on electric motorcycles,” narrates McGregor in the trailer.

Debuting on September 18, Long Way Up will drop its first three episodes on premiere day, followed by weekly episode releases.

More than just another cross-continent road trip, this series documents their most challenging expedition to date. The journey will take them through 16 border crossings and 13 countries along with their longtime collaborators, directors David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, riding the first two electric Rivian trucks ever made.

The docuseries will be available on Apple TV+, the new ad-free subscription video on demand web television service of Apple Inc. The streaming service launched globally last year on November 2019 and is priced at P249 per month in the Philppines, the same as the $4.99 US rate.
