‘Cowboy Bebop,’ ‘The Wheel of Time,’ and more new shows to watch this weekend
A lot of classic animes have been getting live-action adaptations as series or movies, with Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop the latest to drop on the streamer this week.
Fans who loved the original with its mix of noir and sci-fi elements are hoping the live-action series does the anime justice. But for those who are just tuning in without any expectations, the series starring John Cho, Mustafa Shakir and Daniella Pineda looks like a fun space adventure.
Epic fantasy books have also proven to be popular material for streamers to adapt. This weekend, Amazon Prime is dropping the first three episodes of The Wheel of Time, based on Robert Jordan’s book series. Starring Gone Girl's Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, The Wheel of Time is reportedly Amazon's second most expensive TV production next to The Lord of the Rings series, which is coming in September 2022.
