ICYMI: Heritage tours in LRT-1, Malate to be held this weekend

Got an itch to learn more about Manila's rich history? You can satiate that thirst for knowledge by participating in a heritage tour focusing on LRT-1 and Malate this coming weekend.

Organized by cultural organization Renacimiento Manila, the tour happening on April 27 is the Malate Heritage Walk. Touted to be the first of its kind, the tour allows you to sites in the area such as Taft Avenue, Calle Vito Cruz, Roxas Boulevard, Plaza Sulayman, and Malate Church.

It will last from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and costs P500 per person. The meet-up is at 8:45 a.m. at McDonald's Vito Cruz near De La Salle University, Taft Avenue.

The following day on April 28, the LRT-1 Heritage Transit Tour will take place, which will take you through the different stations of the train line.

This includes the Central Terminal Station, Vito Cruz Station, Calle Vito Cruz, Carriedo Station, Santa Cruz Church, Calle Escolta, United Nations Station, and Plaza Salamanca.

The tour will last from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and costs P600 per person, which is inclusive of a souvenir map and beep card. Keep in mind that the slots are limited to only 20 people, so don't wait too long to hop on the adventure. Meet-up is at 8:45 a.m. at the Central Terminal Station in Calle Arroceros.

Renacimiento Manila reminded participants to avoid bringing bulky items, eat properly prior to the tour, and dress comfortably to ensure their comfort during the tour, as it involves walking for almost three hours.

They also urged to prepare for the heat by bringing your own water and umbrellas. Those who suffer quickly from fatigue or have serious heart and medical conditions are discouraged from joining the heritage walk.
