Tales Of Xadia: The Dragon Prince, the tabletop Roleplaying Game based on the popular Netflix animated series is getting a public playtest.

Game creators Fandom and Wonderstorm announced that fans have a chance to sign up for early access to the playtest and provide feedback that could impact the final game. Those who want to be involved can sign up by subscribing to their newsletter starting Tuesday (Feb. 9).

The game is set within Xadia, the rich and diverse fantasy world rich in magic ruled by elves and dragons, where the animated Netflix series The Dragon Prince takes place. The official tabletop RPG game which was first announced in July 2020 and is still in development, is expected to be released sometime in 2021 after testing and final edits are complete.

Adam Bradford, Executive Producer and Vice President of Tabletop said they valued feeback from the fandom community so they could "authentically capture the unique feel, expansive world, and epic stakes of The Dragon Prince."

"As we enter the public playtesting phase, we're excited for fans to see the game in action, experience a thrilling original story, and share their feedback that will help us finalize the game for the full release later this year," said Bradford in a statement.

"We are excited for The Dragon Prince community to explore the world of Xadia in a totally new way as they test out Tales of Xadia with their friends and family," added Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond, co-creators of The Dragon Prince. "This game has the same rich world-building and epic stories that fans of the show have come to know, but it's all driven by you this time! We can't wait to hear about your own adventures and escapades through Xadia."

According to the game's description on its official website, players will be able to explore the world of Xadia through the award-winning Cortex rules system, an adaptable game system focusing on characterization and story development.

In the Tales of Xadia game, players can continue the story from the series or forge their own path with friends by creating alliances, uncovering secrets and engaging in mighty battles in an immersive storyline that directly ties to the action in the series.

Players can play as elves connected to the primal sources of magic or as a member of the Human Kingdoms, customize their traits and special abilities, define values that motivate their characters and impact the story by rolling different types of dice. Digital support tools are expected to make gameplay faster so players can focus on the gameplay right at their table.

Tales of Xadia: The Dragon Prince Roleplaying Game is set to be released sometime in 2021, after the public playtesting period. For those who haven't watched it yet, Seasons 1 to 3 of The Dragon Prince are currently streaming on Netflix.
