‘Framed’ is the newest Wordle alternative for movie buffs

Calling all movie buffs! There’s a Wordle-like game that tests your cinematic knowledge by having you identify movies based on images.

Framed, which is inspired by Wordle, Heardle, and all the other spin-offs, is a game for cinephiles and casual movie-goers alike. Similar to the popular word-guessing game, players are given six attempts to guess the title of a movie based on still images.

In case you guess wrong, a new image from the same movie will be provided, making the film easier to guess. Players can scroll back through previous stills to look for further clues as the game progresses.

Like Wordle, the main goal is to guess the film in as few attempts as possible before you can post your results to social media, in the similar non-spoiler format of familiar green squares.

As of Wednesday (March 23), the movie-guessing game is at puzzle number 12, so it’s still fairly new.

According to the site's information page: “Each day a new movie is  picked from a kinda curated list compiled by me."

Framed doesn’t appear to be dedicated to any specific genre of film, so the guessing game could presumably feature everything from blockbuster action movies to arthouse dramas.

Framed is the newest daily guessing game in the rapidly growing collection of the alternatives to Wordle, which has become a certified gaming phenomenon and craze this year.

Swifties have Taylordle, literature buffs have Bardle, and Pinoys also have their own Tagalog language equivalent in Saltong and Saltong Hex.

In case solving one word at a time isn’t enough for you, a whole host of Wordle variants like Dordle, Quordle, Hexordle, Octordle and more will have you guessing multiple words at a time.
