'Zendaya kakampink': Pinoys get political in the comment section of Valentino's new Pink PP Collection

Filipinos are having a field day on social media as Italian luxury brand Valentino reveals its latest Pink PP Collection. Some netizens are associating the collection with presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo's campaign.

For the fashion designer Pierpaolo Piccoli's rose-colored collection, the clothing label tapped Zendaya as its brand ambassador. "Pink is the color of love, community, energy, and freedom," the campaign read.

When Robredo declared her bid for the presidency in October, she wore a striking pink ribbon on her chest. Not long after, her supporters also wore the rose hue.

Looking at the line's posts on social media, a lot of the comments come from Pinoy netizens, who have related the Italian brand's campaign to Philippine politics.

The comments look to be mostly coming from Robredo's supporters as well as rival Bongbong Marcos' advocates.

"Zendaya for Leni! We been knew!" an Instagram user wrote.

On Facebook, Robredo's voters commented #LetLeniWearValentino and left GIFs of the VP.

"Zendaya kakampink!?!? Tama behavior," a Pinoy netizen tweeted with photos of the actress at the Valentino Paris Fashion Week show.

On the other side of the spectrum, a Facebook user commented "Bayaran ka Zendaya.. BBM pa din!" while another said, "Pinklawan" with a row angry emojis.

Others also left unrelated "#BBMSARA2022 #SOLIDUNITEAM" messages on the Valentino video.

Meanwhile, some Filipinos expressed their "embarrassment" over the political comments, apologizing to others viewing the post for the unrelated messages.

"This is Valentino, ok? Just because Zendaya donned an all-pink attire doesn't mean that it's a campaign for a Filipino candidate. Heck, it's not even political! What do they know about Philippine politics?" a user wrote on Facebook.

One individual gave context about the flood of Filipino comments, adding "I apologize on behalf of my fellow countrymen who are commenting things unrelated to the Valentino brand and turned the comment sections to a circus."
