New behind-the-scenes look at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

Get ready for an adventure in a galaxy far, far away!

Visitors to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland park in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studio’s in Florida will soon be able to live out their own Star Wars story, fly the Millennium Falcon, and explore a remote outpost where epic adventures await.

Disney recently released a new behind-the-scenes video that highlights all the details that went into bringing pieces of the Star Wars universe to life, including the X-Wing, blaster marks, and more locations around Batuu.

In Disney’s latest installment of their “Behind the Magic” series, viewers can hear directly from Scott Trowbridge, portfolio creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, and Doug Chiang, vice president and executive creative director for Lucasfilm, as they share the inspiration and creative mission for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

No details were spared to make the whole experience and themed areas as immersive as possible for guests. In the four-minute video feature, Star Wars fans can also learn more about how the creators developed the sprawling land’s setting, stories, attractions and the smallest details that make Star Wars come to life each day for guests.

Instead of recreating planets featured in previous films like Tatooine or Hoth, the team chose to create an entirely new designed world within the Star Wars universe to keep the spirt of discovery and wonder alive. Galaxy's Edge is set within the village of Black Spire Outpost, on the remote frontier planet of Baatu, and features attractions, shops, restaurants, and entertainment offerings.

The planet is described as "a vibrant trading port back in the old sub-lightspeed days, but now with the advent of hyperspace, its prominence has kind of fallen and faded a little bit which has made it a great spot for those who didn't want to be on that kind of mainstream path." Galaxy's Edge usually attracts smugglers, bounty hunters, rogue adventurers and "people who don't want to be found."

Want to live out your Star Wars adventures longer than a day? The theme park complex also contains the "Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel" for extended stays. Based on the Halcyon, a Corellian MPO-1400 Star Cruiser, the starship hotel will be connected to the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park.
